TITAN LETTERWINNERS CLUB - JOIN TODAY!

All Former Titan Athletes are encouraged to join the Titan Letterwinners Club!

FULLERTON, Calif. – After launching in September, the Titan Letterwinners Club recently surpassed 100 members.
In just a few months time, the Titan Letterwinners Club has eclipsed the century mark and succeeded in connecting Titans athletes from the past with the current athletes at Cal State Fullerton and help the current athletes understand what it means to be a Titan.
This was evident at the recent Dinner With the Titans, where members of the 2015 baseball team and more than 85 former players and alumni gathered together to celebrate the program’s renowned history. Players from the 2015 squad got to interact with former players from every era of Titan baseball.
The free Titan Letterwinners Club offers benefits to former Titans in the way of tickets to a variety of contests, a membership card, newsletter and special event invitations. Members of the club also receive timely information regarding alumni games and reunions, which have seen an increase in attendance since the club’s inception.
The Titan Letterwinners Club represents all varsity student-athletes that have had the distinct honor of wearing the Titan uniform. Aiming to reconnect alumni to the university and the department of intercollegiate athletics, the Titan Letterwinners Club celebrates past successes, strengthen the tradition of Titan Athletics and support the pursuits of current student-athletes.
Titan Athletics’ history dates back several decades and includes – but is not limited to – baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s fencing, men’s fencing, coed fencing, football, men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s gymnastics, women’s gymnastics, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, softball, swimming and diving, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, women’s indoor track, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Eligibility requirements include competing in at last one season and competing in an intercollegiate sport.

Titans Mourn Passing of Former Football Coach Jim McAllister

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Athletics Department and Titan Football lost a member of its family recently with the passing of former assistant coach Jim McAllister. He was 75 years old.

The McAllister family has asked that family, friends, colleagues and former players share stories of Jim by sending the information to the following e-mail address: coachjmcallister@yahoo.com.

McAllister coached at Cal State Fullerton from 1983-87 under Hall of Fame head coach Gene Murphy serving as the administrative assistant, offensive advisor and defensive front coordinator during his tenure.

During McAllister’s time with the Titans, Cal State Fullerton accumulated a 33-26 record and appeared in the California Bowl in 1983, winning back-to-back Pacific Coast Athletic Association titles in 1983 and 1984

In 1984, the Titans posted their best record in program history, 11-1, recording wins over Boise State, Hawai’i, Idaho, Colorado State, Utah State, Pacific, San Jose State, Nevada, Long Beach State, Fresno State and New Mexico State. Fullerton was led by quarterback Damon Allen and a roster that included more than a dozen future professional players.
A 1961 graduate of Whittier College, McAllister also served as Murphy’s recruiting coordinator and worked a previous stint at CSF as defensive coordinator under Pete Yoder during the 1974 season.

Prior to returning to Cal State Fullerton, McAllister spent seven years as athletic director and chairman of the physical education department at Brea-Olinda High School, where he also was head football coach for six seasons. He compiled a 43-18-2 record with the Wildcats capped by an 11-1-1 Orange League Championship season in 1981.

He was recruited to Whittier College by Don Coryell and became a small college All-American center and nose guard. Following his graduation, McAllister was an assistant coach at Whittier High (1961), El Monte High (1962-64) and Alhambra High (1965-71), where he also was an athletic director.

He was an assistant at Utah State (1972-73) before coming to Fullerton for its final Division II season. He assisted at Orange High (1975) before going to Brea in 1976. He attended Whittier High School and was an All-Pacific League center.

Tell New CSUF President To Bring Back Titan Football

Posted: 23 Jun 2012 10:34 PM PDT
Mildred GarciaThe woman pictured at left is Mildred Garcia. Garcia recently took over for the departing Cal State FullertonPresident, Milton Gordon. Gordon’s retirement opened the door for Garcia to come to Cal State Fullerton after serving as President of Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Given past President Gordon’s track record regarding athletics, many thought the probability of bringing back Titan Football would require Cal State Fullerton getting a new president that was more open to the idea. That ideal has become a reality with Gordon’s retirement. Now it is uncertain the stance and enthusiasm Garcia has for athletics as being a major driving force as to how she will conduct her duties as President of Cal State Fullerton. Her track record for promoting athletics is quite limited in that CSUDH is not an athletic powerhouse and plays in a lower NCAA division than Cal State Fullerton.
Earlier this week, current students and alumni were sent an email from Dr. Garcia asking for advice and direction on where her administration should focus their collective efforts as she makes the transition to her new post at Fullerton. Her email is as follows:
This is my second week as your new president and I am so pleased, excited and humbled to be working with you! As we begin this journey together, I would like to have your input to inform and shape our collective thinking and direction. Therefore, I am requesting your open and candid response to five questions. This is an opportunity for me to learn from you about our campus and to receive your suggestions and advice about moving forward.
I hope you will take the time to complete this brief five-question survey by going to the following  link:  https://survey.fullerton.edu/classclimate/online/presidentsoffice.
Please complete the online survey by June 29, 2012.
Rest assured that your responses are completely anonymous and your personal identification is not in any way required or collected.
Please know I will read each response and I look forward to reporting back what I learn from the survey. Thank you for agreeing to participate.
Mildred GarcĂa, Ed.D.
President
Here is your chance Titan Football fans to have your voice heard. Dr. Garcia is asking you to let her know what is important to you by offering this survey. If bringing back Titan Football is important to you, we highly encourage you to fill out the survey and ask that she make bringing back football to Cal State Fullerton a top priority.
You know what they say…. “The squeaky wheel gets the grease”. Let’s have our voices and opinions about Titan Football be heard. Let’s be that squeaky wheel that she can just not ignore. Let’s share this survey with as many people we know so that Dr. Garcia can truly get the magnitude and enthusiasm that we all have for bringing back Titan Football.
Please take five minutes and fill out the survey right now, right HERE
